Thumbs up Eight Guild Wars artists honored for their work

Gratz to Anet and the 8 artists! It's well deserved and I hope that this tradition continues with GW2!

When you think of Guild Wars, what comes to mind first? No, besides the lack of a monthly fee. No no, besides the instanced world. Why, it's the game's sheer beauty, of course! The Spectrum 15 Artist List, an annual showcase of the best fantasy, science fiction, and horror artwork created each year, recently recognized eight ArenaNet artists for their incredible work on Guild Wars. The ArenaNet artists honored on this list are Jaime Jones, Richard Anderson, Matthew Barrett, Daniel Dociu, Jason Juan, Kekai Kotaki, Jason Stokes, and Doug Williams.

We can all agree that these wonderful artists are deserving of such accolades, but consider the impact they will have on future generations of artists. In an era of computer graphics getting easier and easier to create, replicate, and manipulate, it's inspiring to know that we have a way to honor such genuine talent in the gaming industry.

You can color me NOT SURPRISED.

The artists that work on GW have always been the best around. The fact that so many will be published in the next Spectrum art book is well-deserved recognition of their talent.

Hopefully, this will become a tradition.

Congrats to all of Anets artists. I am continually blown away by their creativity, imagination, and skill as artists. They really know how to capture the essence of GW and really take you "inside" the world.

If I had them under my control I would make them illustrate all my fav sci-fi/fantasy novels beginning with The Wheel of Time series and The Song of Fire and Ice series

The artists at Anet are possibly the only people who are well above the industry standard. Now if you can just lift the rest of the people to that level.

The GW artists have done great work, GW would not be the beautiful game that it became without your work. Thank You.

Hehe... true.

More related to the artists alone:
I pointed out some time ago that their 3d modelers and texture artists do not live up to the standards of their concept artists. Of course you cannot expect them to make exact replicas of the concept art, sure.

But they should not hire a master painter and then let modeler John Doe implement his ideas ingame. It is such a waste. Recently they did better, except the bad materiality of the Emerald Blade (plastics??) and the Dryad Bow I was positively surprised.
